4. **Tunnel and backups with a raspberry-pi** covers how to set up a VPN server in our home or space with a residential router setup, and how to use such a VPN for remote backups, how to share local files to remote peers with ssh connections via this VPN, and how to tunnel internet traffic from an non-secure network through our DIY raspberry-pi tunnel.

The goal is to spread the use and installation of VPN services on premises, meaning on physically located or dedicated servers in feminist spaces and collectives, and to inform of reliable VPN services provided by non profit organizations and other tech activists rather than purchasing commercial VPN services, which are either costly, or the inexpensive options out there do not comply with best practices such as using the same certificates for a bulk of users, pass-phrases posted on websites. The educational material created during the 4 months funding period aim to serve as resources for other activists/spaces to organize workshops and circulate the knowledge. The autonomous server systerserver.net hosts the git repository of the project which will be available to feminist collectives on request to work on translations and further sharing the material.

The writing material inform of reliable VPN services provided by non profit organizations and other tech activists rather than purchasing commercial VPN services, which are either costly, or the inexpensive options out there do not comply with best practices - e.x they tend to use the same certificates for a bulk of users, pass-phrases posted on websites -. The educational material created during the six months funding period are published in the public domain and aim to serve as resources for other activists and autonomous spaces to organize workshops and circulate the knowledge.
